Priority date progression continues – The priority date for the family preference category continues to progress on the Visa Bulletin for the month of September 2013. The F2a preference category (lawful permanent resident petitioning of spouse or unmarried child under 21 years of age) remains current. The last time that the visa bulletin progressed this much was from the month of August to December of 2010. I want to take a look at what had happened in the summer of 2010, and the experience that we can draw from that visa progression. At that time period, the sibling petition progressed all the way up to January 2002, and then regressed, and now slowly moved up again but not yet to that of January 2002. Beside the sibling petitions, the F2a category also made significant progress in 2010. The waiting period for the F2a priority date to become current was only about 2 months in December 2010. The priority date began to make a stand still or regress in January 2011, and now we are looking at the visa progression again.
